iCarPlay and 60 GB iPod Photo don’t play well with tunedok!,
I bought an iCarPlay along with my new iPod Photo 60 GB and I thought this would be a great addition for my car to go along with the iCarPlay.
After reading the review that said it worked fine with the iCarPlay, I bought it. Now that I have it, it doesn’t work with the “thicker” 60 GB iPod photo. I shouldn’t say it doesn’t work, it does put quite a bit of stress (more than I will allow) on the dock port when it is firmly suction-cupped into place with the iCarPlay unit inserted into the dock port. I had visited Belkin’s site to ensure compatibility and they said that it would work (just not with an iPod mini).
So to get it to work with the larger, 60 GB iPod Photo will require an unnatural act performed with a hacksaw (remove the little piece that goes across, leaving only the two pieces that stick out to support the iPod from falling). That should solve the problem and at the same time, void the warranty…Bummer, but for the current price, I’m more worried about potential problems with my iPod than this unit.
This is my only gripe and it is very specific. To even encounter this problem, you’d have to use this product, the Monster iCarPlay unit and a 60 GB iPod Photo (the only one that is currently this thick). If you are using anything else (like a smaller form-factor iPod), then you won’t have this problem.
Everything else about the unit is great. I was worried about the suction cup at first, but it appears to hold the iPod with no problems at all. Nice work Belkin.

Very handy for using the iPod in your car,
This is a real simple product. Just place it in your cup holder (it comes with three sizes to choose from), and place the iPod unit into it. A suction cup keeps the unit in place.
It does a fine job holding the iPod steady when you are using the menu. Nice and balanced. You can place the iPod at an angle or keep it flat. I prefer keeping it flat.
Not much more to say other than the price is reasonable at $17.99 (as of August 16th).

Works great with my iCarPlay unit…,
I bought the Belkin TuneDok last week in preparation for a long road trip with my iPod and my newly purchased iCarPlay from Monster Cable. I was a bit concerned that the TuneDok might not allow the iCarPlay’s cable to plug into the bottom of the iPod, but the hole at the bottom of the cradle is big enough. The suction cup at the back of the cradle keeps the iPod from moving around, and the cradle itself is adjustable for different angles depending on the location of your cup holder. All in all a great accessory for iPod fans.
