Simply to large and thick, not fully compatible with PDCBLPAK,
I recently purchased the SoundGate PDCBLPAK for my Harley to power and connect my iPod for on the road music. The SoundGate works great and was easily hard wired onto my bike. Since I also wanted to be able to remotely control the connected iPod music list I searched, to no avail, for the SoundGate REMCORE. SoundGate no longer manufacturers anything so this remote control is no longer available, even after contacting many resellers no one has a new or used unit in stock. So based on the user guide compatible list of remotes (pretty much only Sony branded units) I searched the list and this Sony RMX11M came up more prominently than others at a reasonable price. Bought it and it works OK just not fully compatible. The mode button is a stop/start button, the next and previous track work fine but the Vol+ and Vol- nor Off button do anything. The GP/ALBM seem to work by starting at the beginning of the music list, not the beginning of the current Group/Album. All in all I can get it to work enough for my needs but the glaring problem is the thing is HUGE
On a Harley or any motorcycle for that matter, space is limited unless you have a full dresser/bagger/fairing/saddlebags on your bike which I don’t have except for the saddlebags which I only use for those long rides (like the 3300 mile ride I just took through 4 states). So I wanted a small and thin unit to mount in an obscure location that I could easily reach. Not so with this thing. The face itself isn’t to big, I can work with it at 2.5″ in diameter but the thickness is easily 1-3/4″ thick. There is absolutely no where to mount/place this monstrosity
I will search for an alternative and return this unit, simply based on it’s over sized enclosure. Unfortunately I searched high and low originally and this is what I came up with, so if I cannot find a replacement I will keep it and probably get a handlebar toolbag to mount behind my handlebar mounted speakers but within reach of my riders seat. Bummer I want to keep the minimal lines of my blacked out Harley Fat Bob and the speakers look great with my ape hangers but this remote size really is a problem
So this unit gets 3 stars primarily for its limited but usable compatibility, it lost out on the other 2 stars due to its very LARGE size which is not clearly outlined in the description which states: Product Dimensions: 7.1 x 4.6 x 3.1 inches ; 14.9 ounces, but I think this is the measurement for the box definitely not the unit!

Great Remote,
Nice remote. Buttons are easy to use. Color shows up well at night. Install was simple and straight forward. I installed this unit on my swim platform of a 28 foot cabin cruiser boat. Cord was plenty long enough to go from cabin to rear of the boat.

Great for hot tub control,
I have a hot tub with a Sony marine stereo built into the side. This means you can turn it on / off before you get in, but then you’re stuck with whatever is on the radio.
I bought this unit, mounted it next to the tub in a gray weatherproof electrical box, ran conduit from the box to the stereo and voila! I can now turn it on / off, change the source, control volume and skip tracks on CDs without getting out of the tub. It came with a 20 foot extension for the main control cable, but I had to buy extensions for the red & black power cables.

seems good, but Boss hasn’t perfected it yet,
i bought this deck to replace one that i had in my car that i loved. i recently replaced some of the stock speakers for various reasons and needed something a little more powerful to add some pep to the audio without installing an amp. i loved the 80Wx4 (320W) of power, but thats about all that i liked about it. the bluetooth was ok, but you had to dial a number from the remote. most of the menus are only accessible from the remote. and after a couple years since my last Boss deck, i thought that they would have fixed the random feature for mp3s, but no. another big mishap came when i started to lose presets including clock, EQ, and station presets. i asked a professional in the area and he said that it was not the wiring, but the deck itself. AND to top it all off, it didn’t really sound that much better than my old 50Wx4 deck that i replaced! so now once i get my money back, i will be buying a new nicer deck and a used amp from a friend of mine.

over promissed and under delivered,
this is the first and probably the last boss radio ill buy. its nice to have 320 total watts of power but it does no good wen you cannot control the levels. its 80×4 of raw power and theres not much else you can do with it. my bluetooth doesnt work and it says its ‘touchpanel’ which i thought was touchscreen operated and its not. there are no graphics or anything special about it. if you zoom to watch a movie you always see a caption in the corner stating zoom 2 and you cant get rid of that. im just upset that it was well represented with things it doesnt have. it claims to have seperate controls for bass and treble and there arent any. it kind of sucks

You get what you pay for.,
I purchased this unit for my wife’s car. Its a decent unit with a nice sound that brought the factory speakers to life. The video is nice and clear. The downfalls with this unit is CD’s take a while to read, the aux. port always says no signal, the usb doesn’t work with anything (Ipod or cell phone) other then a flash drive and the bluetooth is very “iffy”. It will sync and unsync at will and thats if it even syncs in the first place. Cell phones seem to sync better than Ipods. Also, there are no graphics while a CD or SD card plays music and the music shuffle feature doesn’t do a good job of shuffling. But the unit isn’t too bad for $150.00. After all, you get what you pay for.
