I have been comparing different GPS units from the different manufactures for quite sometime and I read the reviews on the TomTom Go 930 and decided to go with it.I really like the ease of use and the many features it has to offer.I recommend you check it out for yourself, read the reviews then buy it.I bet your gonna like it. Their customer support is great,a little hold time but other that, very helpful.John

I owned a Garmin Street Pilot for a number of years (the wider, heavier, clunkier age of “portable” vehicle GPS units), and only decided to get a new device after Garmin would no longer support updates on my device. Reviews had the TomTom “flagship” as being equivalent to that of Garmin. Those must have been stacked reviews funded by ACORN, because I see no comparison.

TomTom is noticeably lacking in capability w/r/t accurately finding street addresses.

The Point of Interest (POI) search is terrible. It does not allow distant radial searches (50-100 miles) to the extent of the Garmin.

I have come across many small annoying things. For instance, Garmin’s capability to search restaurants by type was a nice plus when in an unfamiliar locale. This feature is absent in a TomTom. The search features are poor. Browsing the map from the current location is tricky and poorly executed in compaarison to the Garmin I once had.

The voice garbles sometimes (frequently at very inopportune navigation moments – overload? processor speed? OS? – I have no idea.). I never heard this glitch in the Garmin.

The screen is almost unreadable in some lighting conditions.

A tipping point in selecting to purchase it was it’s supposedly capability to receive live traffic updates. Only after I had subscribed to their service did they let me know that my Blackberry was unsupported as a Bluetooth interface. Total waste of money. Thanks for letting me know up front you scoundrels. I should have sent it back then, but instead, thought “Oh, this is probably the only bad thing. All the other features, performance, etc. should be as good or better than what I had before.” WRONG!

This TomTom unit is one of the worst electronics purchases I ever made. Save yourself the pain and buyers’ remorse and get a Garmin or a Magellan – or something else… ANYTHING else. TomTom is a ripoff company.

I might toss this in the garbage and go back to my ancient Garmin or use it to sight in my rifle. What a waste of money this was.

Tom tom had abandoned previous year useful, friendly application and large hard drive. Very disappointed with my 930T, inaccurate and cant even find

the major discount warehouse in Southern California. With proper address still led us opposite way.

More appointment of buying online return policy.Be beware of hefty restocking and mailing charges. Stick with well known major discount warehouses.

I would love to review the TomTom 930, which I ordered, but Amazon sent me a 730T. The only option was for me to send the unit back, get a refund and wait for the 930 to become available and re-order one and then hope that they get the order right the next time. As far as the unit itself, it works great except for some of the maps not being as correct as my Garmin unit. Instead of telling me to make u-turns at appropriate places, it wants me to take a right, then three lefts. Also, the lane guidance is a much hyped feature that you’ll never see. At least I’ve never seen it driving around many complicated intechanges in Dallas, TX.
